Magaly Barnola-Otaola is a vibrant, intuitive woman from Venezuela. She obtained a BAF in Drawing and Painting from the Cristobal Rojas School of Plastic Arts in Caracas, Venezuela. She studied drawing with Master Painter Pedro Centeno Vallenilla and landscape painting with Master Painter Luis Alfredo Lopez Mendez in Caracas.
She pursued her studies in art with Master Artists. She studied Painting with Edgar Sanchez, Drawing and Painting with Master artist Alirio Rodriguez; she studied Contemporary and Conceptual art with artist Pedro Teran, and with Gonzalo Leon; she studied History and Sociology of Art; she studied Photography with famous photographer Ricardo Armas, and attended a photography workshop at the Corcoran Museum in Washington. Other studies include Introduction to Sculpture, Phenomenology of  Space and New Contemporary Trends with artist Carlos Vicente Torrealba, Visual Arts Studies with Dr. Milagros and Museology with art museologist Elida Salazar.


Magaly Barnola-Otaola’s exhibition history includes various group shows and exhibits, beginning in 1976 with a group show at the Cristobal Rojas School of Visual Arts in Caracas. She later went on to exhibit at Salon Michelena in 1998, the Caracas Metro Exhibit at La Hoyada Station in 1990, Salon Venezuela in New York 1992, and Salon Aragua in 1993. Her solo exhibits include a show in 1991 at Salon Camuri Grande and at Aspecto Gallery in 1992. Barnola-Otaola received First Prize for her Man Time Series at the Caracas Metro 1991 and her work, a China ink drawing, also garnered the cover of “Camuri” Magazine in 1978. Since 2010 to the present, the artist has developed new steps in her creation towards figurative works based on the topic of “Man-Technology”.


Dynamic rhythms and centrifugal lines intertwine with vibrant figurative shapes, culminating in a rapturous explosion of forms and forceful lines. She re-createsm images from her original drawings using new media such as photography and large format canvases, inverting and re-constructing her original images into new works. In September 2011, she participated with her work Titans. New digital Photography in a
curated show by Curator Milagros Bello, Ph.D. at the Shanghai Art Fair in Shanghai, China. In October 2011, her solo show Titans. New digital Photography is presented at Curator’s Voice Art Projects Contemporary Art, in the Wynwood Arts District in Miami, Florida. Magaly Barnola-Otaola currently lives and works between Caracas, Venezuela and Miami, Florida.
